INESC-ID is a not for profit, privately owned institution of public interest, dedicated
to advanced research and development in the domains of electronics, telecommunications and information technologies.
INESC-ID was created in 2000 and was awarded the status of "Laboratório Associado" in December of 2004.
INESC-ID is owned by Instituto Superior Técnico and by Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas and Computadores.
INESC-ID currently integrates more than 90 PhDs and 200 post-graduation students working in one of the five main action lines:
Computing Systems and Communication Networks
Embedded Electronic Systems
Information and Decision Support Systems
Interactive Intelligent Systems

INESC-ID is structured according to the organization chart shown below.
The general management of the organization is ensured by the Board of Directors, which is composed of three members. The chairman and maximum responsible for the institution is currently Leonel Sousa. The Board of Directors is assisted by the Project Support Office (GAP), the Human Resources Office (GARH) and other administrative support units.
The Scientific Council is composed of all researchers with a PhD degree. Is is responsible for the strategic planning and for the organization of the research units, and evaluates the research projects, annual budget, plan and report.
The General Council is constituted by three representatives of Instituto Superior Técnico, two of INESC, and by the chairman of the Scientifc Council of INESC-ID. The General Council approves the annual technical and financial reports, as well as the annual plan and budget. |
