Design and Development of Microcontroller ZR16 – A Successful Case

ZR16 is the first microcontroller with 100% brazilian design. This lecture will present the development of microcontroller, main characteristics and applications. Also, Santa Maria Design House (SMDH), an integrated circuit design center located in Santa Maria, RS, Brazil will be presented.
Professor João Baptista dos Santos Martins, graduated in Electrical Engineering, 1984 (UFSM/Brazil), Master in Eng. Electrical, 1993( UFSM/Brazil), PhD in Computer Science with emphasis on microelectronics, 2001( UFRGS/Brazil) and 2015 Post-Doctorate at Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores, Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa (INESC-ID). Researcher B CNPq. General Coordinator of SMDH, coordinator of several projects FINEP, CNPq, and CAPES FAPERGS.
Area of interest: low power, digital ASICs design.
