Abstract:

One of the problems newcomers to the annotation area face
is which tool to choose. In order to compare available tools one must
evaluate them according to an evaluation framework. In this paper we
propose an evaluation framework, that introduces general tool-focused
criteria; interface and general; and annotation-focused
criteria – metadata and procedure. We describe how the evaluation of a set
of tools was
performed and the results of such a comparison. Our results may not
only be useful to newcomers, but also to experts who may use them to
seize new opportunities for development.
