“ALINHAMENTO MÚLTIPLO DE SEQUÊNCIAS USANDO ALGORITMOS EVOLUTIVOS HÍBRIDOS”

Abstract:
O Alinhamento Múltiplo de Sequências (AMS) de proteínas é uma das ferramentas mais importantes em Bioinformatica. Sendo o AMS um problema da classe de NP-completo, leva a que abordagens heurísticas sejam desenvolvidas para a sua solução num intervalo de tempo razoável.
Nesta tese a abordagem heurística utilizada foi inspirada nos algoritmos evolutivos híbridos através da combinação de algoritmos evolutivos com programação dinâmica (com procura local e global de alinhamentos de subsequências), ou através de seeding, para encontrar alinhamentos sub-óptimos de qualidade aceitável.
A avaliação da qualidade dos alinhamentos produzidos foi baseada em testes de referência da BALiBASE. A BALiBASE é uma base de dados que contém alinhamentos múltiplos óptimos, produzidos manualmente, para avaliação e comparação de programas que realizam alinhamentos.

The HUB Winter Meeting aims at bringing together researchers and administrators from the 5 INESC institutes, affiliated higher education institutions in Portugal and abroad, with key European and global players, to:

– Exchange best-practices about R&I management, career development and policy positioning.
