INESC-ID was among the Portuguese institutions represented in the delegation accompanying the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre, and the Secretary of State for Science and Innovation, Helena Canhão, during their visit to China, through the participation of researcher Mário Gaspar Silva.

The programme included visits to Tianjin Foreign Studies University and Nankai University, namely its College of Life Sciences, as well as meetings with university leadership teams, professors and researchers. The visiting delegation included directors and researchers from several Portuguese institutions and was accompanied by the Ambassador of Portugal to Beijing, Manuel Carvalho.

With stops in Tianjin, Beijing and Shanghai, the goal of this visit was to further strengthen bilateral relations between Portugal and China in the areas of Research, Innovation, Education and Higher Education.
