Pedro Ferreira is the Coordinator of the Communications and Outreach Office (COO) at INESC-ID, where he facilitates and implements the external and internal communications strategy of INESC-ID, as well as leading on the science outreach, science education and public engagement remits of the institute. Pedro obtained a PhD in Neuroscience from the Champalimaud Foundation and Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2016, and was then awarded a grant from the Wellcome Trust, in the UK, to further train in the public understanding of science via an MSc in Science Communication (Science Media Production), focusing on science documentaries and podcasts, at Imperial College London, from which he graduated with distinction in 2018. That same year Pedro was at CERN, Geneva, as a Cooperation Associate in Audiovisual Science Communication, where he conceived and scripted a short documentary series on particle physics, and co-authored a book — Cem Mitos Sem Lógica — on popular myths and misconceptions in science, technology, health and history. From 2019 to 2021, Pedro led the Science Education and Public Engagement projects at the Biochemical Society, in London, as Education and Public Engagement Manager. An avid educator, based on his teaching in neuroscience and science communication, Pedro has been awarded Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and the Harvard Bok Higher Education Teaching Certificate.Pedro Ferreira is the Coordinator of the Communications and Outreach Office (COO) at INESC-ID, where he facilitates and implements the external and internal communications strategy of INESC-ID, as well as leading on the science outreach, science education and public engagement remits of the institute.
