OBJECTIVES | FUNCTIONS
This work will take place in the context of the project AILA, and aims to continue the development of a RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) system for the Portuguese Consumer Law, and it involves the following tasks:
-Finetunning a Language Model for retrieval of questions related to the Portuguese Consumer Law.
-Use of a Large Language Model to generate explanations of Portuguese Consumer Law that best apply to a given question.
-Usability tests with users.

OBJECTIVES | FUNCTIONS
Instituto Português do Sangue e da Transplantação (IPST), the national authority for blood donation and transplantation, ensures the balance between blood collection, processing, and hospital distribution to meet demand while minimizing waste. In this context, two major objectives are identified:
(i) to assess nation-wide changes to blood donation and demand activity since COVID-19 with a focus on descriptive models to capture shifts in blood supply dynamics for new insights, as well as predictive models for context-aware forecasting to guide tactical and strategic planning.
(ii) to develop a Node.js–based analytics tool for supporting the management of donations and requests, integrating it with IPST's database for real-time insights.

DescriptionONE (1) research grant for students with BSc degree with reference number BI|2025/772 under the scope of the Project SMARTChip- Low-Power Configurable Neural Processing Unit For Embedded Intelligence – Refª LISBOA2030-FEDER-00692100 funded by operation nº 15811, Balcão dos Fundos, FEDER and FCT, is now available under the following conditions:
OBJECTIVES | FUNCTIONS
This position involves the design and development of a configurable neural processing unit (NPU) for deep learning models. The work includes the design of novel architectures to deal with low-power and high-performance execution of deep learning models in embedded solutions. The final architecture will be implemented in ASIC technology.
The work plan to be carried out includes:
- Literature review and analysis;
- Specification of supported models and their requirements;
- Design of the NPU architecture and its optimization;
- Implementation of the NPU as a prototype to be tested on FPGA;
- Description of the architecture in Verilog to be ported to the ASIC design flow;
- Development of a demonstration system
- Evaluation of the demonstrator;
- Writing of project report.
