Luísa Coheur, INESC-ID researcher in Human Language Technologies and professor at Técnico ULisboa, was honoured with the ULisboa Pedagogical Innovation Award, recognising her distinction for “consistent, thoughtful and well-founded teaching practices”.

The award-winning initiative, developed in collaboration with Inês Lynce, INESC-ID researcher and President of the Board of Directors, aims to give students active participation in order to increase knowledge retention. It consists of an “Active Learning” methodology, in which students are presented with online challenges, in the format of an “Escape Room”, related to the subject taught in the class. Solving the challenge allows the student to move on to the next one, with feedback provided. The practice was carried out during the theoretical classes of the “Logic for Programming” curricular unit taught in the first year of the Computer Science and Engineering degree at Técnico.

The year 2025 was the first edition of the annual Award, established by the Universidade de Lisboa, and offers financial support of €5000 for teaching activities. It recognises impactful and innovative pedagogical projects that promote active student involvement and the general improvement of teaching and learning practices in higher education.
