During her participation in the Annual Congress of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) (SNMMI 2026), held in Los Angeles from 30 May and 2 June, Cláudia S. Constantino was distinguished with the SNMMI 2026 International Best Abstract Award for Portugal.

Her award-winning work, titled “Deep-learning-based automatic staging of nodal and distant metastases in breast cancer using [¹⁸F]FDG PET/CT imaging”, proposes an artificial intelligence methodology for the automatic staging of breast cancer patients using medical images, specifically PET/CT with [¹⁸F]FDG. The research is part of Cláudia’s PhD project, developed within a collaboration between INESC-ID and the Champalimaud Foundation, under the supervision of Susana Vinga, INESC-ID researcher in Information & Decision and Support Systems.
