The ”la Caixa” Foundation has awarded 100 new doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships to outstanding researchers during its Award Ceremony in Barcelona earlier this month.

INESC-ID PhD student, Lucian Popescu was present at the ceremony along with fellow awardees to receive his Doctoral INPhINIT fellowship, which is the first “La Caixa” to be secured by INESC-ID, and one of the few attributed to computer science this year.

This programme is one of the most significant initiatives promoted by private organisations in Spain and Europe, with the goal of attracting and retaining talent and to foster research excellence in Spain and Portugal, by offering competitive salaries and a cross-disciplinary training programme. The organisation will allocate more than 22 million euros to the 60 INPhINIT doctoral programme fellowships and the 40 fellowships from the Junior Leader postdoctoral programme, both co-funded by the European Commission through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Actions, within the context of the Horizon 2020 framework programme.
