CORTIVIS — Cortical Visual Neuroprosthesis for the Blind — is a European venture that ran between 2001 and 2004, involving INESC-ID researchers Leonel Sousa and Pedro Tomás, and was a groundbreaking artificial vision project that involved direct implantation of electrodes in the visual cortex to aid visually-challenged individuals.
