DescriptionInvestigate the emergence of collective intelligence in hybrid societies of agents and humans through the presence of attention and awareness mechanisms in agents. The research involves the creation of a model for attention in embodied agents that relies on gaze behaviours to achieve some form of common shared understanding between humans and artificial agents. To do that we will explore and develop computational mechanisms to both perceive human gaze behaviours and to autonomously express attention on artificial embodied agents, such as robots. The aim is to run a set of user studies to explore cooperation, trust and cohesion in hybrid groups of agents and humans. Different types of domains and agents’ embodiments will be explored.
