Post qUaNtum Cryptography TooLbox (PUNCTuaL)
Type: National Project Project
Duration: from 2018 Jan 01 to 2020 Dec 31
Financed by: FCT/Cooperação Bilateral/PESSOA
Prime Contractor: R - INESC-ID Lisboa (Other) - Lisboa, Portugal
The cryptographic solutions adopted by the industry are mainly based on public key standardized cryptographic schemes using the RSA and ECC primitives, either to secure transactions or to exchange keys through certificates. These primitives are insecure if a quantum computer is produced. It is therefore essential for the industry to secure their current and future revenues by anticipating the announced arrival of quantum computers, mainly due to the time required for the design, evaluation, standardization and deployment of new quantum-resistant cryptographic schemes. The ambition of the project PUNCTuaL is to provide tools and methodologies for post-quantum (PQ) cryptography on which secure and efficient protocols can be underpinned. The design of the tools will be based one industrial use-cases, such as the protocols used to secure the digital market, telecommunications and the Internet of Things (IoT)
