AI for Development – Girls shaping the digital future
To celebrate the International Girls in ICT Day 2026, the Instituto de Telecomunicações will join the Universidade da Beira Interior (Instituto de Telecomunicações, Covilhã), IEEE EMBS Portugal Chapter and the IEEE Portugal for a dedicated gathering titled “AI for Development: Girls shaping the digital future”.
The event aims to increase the number of girls interested in ICT, and will bring together former and current students of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, among many other related fields to discuss professional path endeavours, how to balance career and personal life and how IEEE can help young professionals to better contribute to their career development.
INESC-ID researcher in Human Language Technologies, Isabel Trancoso, is one of the speakers invited to share her experience and insights, focused on the topic of “Girls in AI@Técnico”.
Secondary school students (girls and boys) are also invited.
