For two days the INESC Brussels Hub Summer Meeting gathered key European and national policymakers, Portuguese authorities, the European Commission, academia, industry leaders, and the INESC community to reflect on how to coordinate the path from knowledge creation to industrial and societal deployment. As in previous years, INESC-ID representatives were in attendance, reinforcing the institution’s international presence and its role within the INESC network.

Held in Brussels, from 27-28 May, the meeting built on the discussions carried out during the Winter Meeting in Coimbra, focusing on the gaps in Europe’s technology stack and what the FP10 and the European Competitiveness Fund (ECF) must provide to transform research excellence into competitive capability.

The programme featured discussions on creating trusted spaces for strategic dialogue on Europe’s future research and innovation agenda, as well as a plenary introducing three Strategic Technology Windows. Ana Teresa Freitas, INESC-ID researcher and coordinator of the Life & Health Thematic Line, participated in the Health Tech Stack, while Inês Lynce, INESC-ID President of the Board of Directors, hosted and moderated the Digital & Compute Stack, and co-led the subsequent cross-domain synthesis plenary. This final session explored insights from the three Strategic Technology Windows, and highlighted shared challenges and opportunities across Europe’s technology development continuum.
