INESC-ID has officially joined the AI, Data and Robotics Association (ADRA) as a Full Member, deepening its engagement with Europe’s AI, Data and Robotics community.

ADRA was established as the private sector representative of the European Partnership on AI, Data and Robotics, one of the critical partnerships within Cluster 4 (Digital, Industry and Space) of Horizon Europe. This partnership officially launched with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between ADRA and the European Commission on June 23, 2021. With a network of industry leaders, researchers and policymakers from 27 countries, and over 200 members across the AI, Data and Robotics value chain, ADRA works to secure European autonomy in critical technologies, boost competitiveness, and achieve research excellence in these strategic fields.

As a Full Member, INESC-ID gains voting rights at the General Assembly and full access to ADRA’s topic groups, flagship events, including the AI, Data and Robotics Forum and the European Convergence Summit, and community platforms. Membership also gives INESC-ID access to the ADRA Matchmaking platform, opening direct channels to find project partners for Horizon Europe and Digital Europe calls.

“Joining ADRA opens doors for new collaborations at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Robotics,” says Ana Paiva, INESC-ID researcher and Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, who serves as INESC-ID’s primary contact within ADRA. “ADRA is the only European association that brings these three areas together, allowing research institutes like INESC-ID to work with industrial partners and other research institutes, speaking with one strong, unified voice in shaping Europe’s strategic agenda in these fields.”

“For researchers, this translates into concrete opportunities to build international collaboration networks and see their work directly contribute to shaping the future of AI in Europe,” she adds. “INESC-ID’s four thematic lines, namely digital transformation, health, energy transition, and security and privacy,  align directly with ADRA’s core topics, making this association particularly relevant to all the work carried out at INESC-ID.”
