AI, Big Data and Human Genetics – SPGH 30th Annual Meeting Pre-Congress Session
The Portuguese Society of Human Genetics (SPGH) opens its 30th Annual Meeting with a pre-congress session on the intersection of artificial intelligence, big data and human genetics. Throughout the morning, researchers from Instituto Superior Técnico, the Wellcome Sanger Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will show how large-scale analysis of genetic and genomic data, combined with AI models, can accelerate the discovery of new drug targets and bring precision medicine closer to clinical practice.
Programme:
• Deep generative models of large-scale functional genetic screens for drug target discovery, by Emanuel Gonçalves (Instituto Superior Técnico)
• Using genetics and genomics at scale to identify candidate drug targets and deliver precision medicine for inflammatory bowel disease, by Carl Anderson (Wellcome Sanger Institute)
• AI for drug discovery and genomic medicine, by Manolis Kellis (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)
Free admission, subject to prior registration. A certificate of attendance will be issued.
Date: 19 November, 9h00–12h30
Location: Grande Auditório, ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon
