Blockchain.pt Kickoff meeting
On November 8th and 9th, the Blockchain.pt mobilizing agenda will host a kickoff meeting at Startup Leiria, to present its vision on how to promote the use of blockchain in Portugal.
The Blockchain.pt consortium is led by VOID Software, a software company based in Leiria, in partnership with 56 partner institutions including INESC ID, and funded by the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The first day of the event will be exclusively addressed to partners and invitees, as an internal session of the consortium to present the management model and the different partners.
On the 9th, the public session will be an opportunity for all those interested in blockchain to learn more about the topic, meet the members of the consortium, identify new projects & innovative technologies, and explore opportunities on the use of blockchain. The event will be a great opportunity to network with experts and engage in discussion panels on blockchain latest developments.
The public session will count on the presence of the Minister of the Economy and Maritime Affairs, António Costa e Silva. Miguel Pupo Correia, researcher at INESC ID and coordinator of the National Web3 Strategy, will host in the morning (9:45am) the talk “Estratégia nacional web3”.
Overall, the agenda Blockchain.pt I “Decentralizing Portugal with Blockchain” expects to enhance technology as a driver of change, taking advantage of the business opportunities that arise.
The expectation is that this agenda will place Portugal as a European leader in blockchain technology, helping the country to become more digital, greener, and resilient.
“Decentralize Portugal” has a double meaning:
- decentralize Portugal through technology (blockchain is, by definition, decentralized)
- decentralize Portugal geographically (most of the projects and partner institutions are based outside Lisbon).
The coordinator of INESC-ID’s participation in the project is Prof. Miguel Pardal. With a funding of more than 1.7 million €, INESC-ID is involved in 3 main activities: Agriculture and Agro-Food; Digital Asset Management; and Blockchain Interoperability.
Registration is free but mandatory.
