Dia da Energia 2026
On 29 May, from 14h30, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) from Instituto Superior Técnico, together with INESC-ID, will mark the Dia da Energia 2026. The event will take place at the Técnico Innovation Center (TIC) and will bring together several specialists in the field.
The panel “Storage and Market” will address topics such as energy storage, commercialisation, and the relationship between industry and academia. The second session, “Resilience and the Power Grid”, will be dedicated to transmission, distribution, operations, security, and grid robustness. The final panel, “Smart Cities and Smart Grids”, will focus on mobility, urban energy, and public policy. All sessions will be open to audience questions.
The day will also mark the inauguration of the Energy Dream Lab, an advanced research and testing infrastructure developed by INESC-ID and Instituto Superior Técnico, dedicated to the integration of distributed energy resources in active electrical systems, combining expertise in power systems, power electronics, AI, energy management, and telecommunications. Conceived as a “system-of-systems” platform, it supports several national and European projects, including EV4EU, AHEAD, SHIFT2DC and ATE. The inauguration takes place at 13h30, at the energy laboratory near the lateral entrance on Avenida António José de Almeida.
The event will close with the presentation of the “Engenheiro Ivo Gonçalves” and “Professor Sucena Paiva” Awards, given to the top students of the Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialisation in energy.
