“We must stop and see, as a society, what we want from artificial intelligence.” These were the words from Inês Lynce that set the tone for a recent episode of the ECO podcast “À Prova de Futuro”.

Amid the current artificial intelligence (AI) era, Inês Lynce, INESC-ID researcher in artificial intelligence, President of the Board of Directors and Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico Universidade de Lisboa, joined interviewers André Veríssimo, Diogo Simões, and Hugo Amaral to reflect on the evolution of AI until now and what can be expected from the future of this technology.

Although AI has benefited from significant advancements, the researcher believes human intelligence is still many steps ahead and that now is the time to benefit from current technologies and reflect on what is needed. She also underlines the crucial role of user education and the difficulty in retaining national talent, as young professionals are driven abroad by more attractive opportunities.
