eArchiving in Portugal
A part of the European Digital Strategy, this initiative, led by the European Commission, aims to provide support to public and private entities facing current or future challenges in digital preservation through a European network of experts.
In Portugal, this topic has gained particular importance due to a ministerial ordinance requiring concrete actions from municipalities. In response, DGLAB and the eArchiving initiative will host an information and discussion session on February 25th. INESC-ID is actively involved in eArchiving as a recognised R&D laboratory specialising in digital preservation, with leadership from INESC-ID researchers José Borbinha and Sérgio Guerreiro.
While this session is primarily motivated by the ministerial ordinance, the topic is broadly relevant to the entire Public Administration. Among the cases to be presented, the highlights will be Hospital de S. João in Porto and the Ministry of Justice.
